Burt Reynolds ‘Deeply Saddened’ By Loss Of Hollywood Legend

Jim Nabors, perhaps best known for his depiction of the silly Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show, died at the age of 87 in Hawaii

Reynolds, who worked with the late star on several films including The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Cannonball Run II in the 1980s, has released a statement regarding the death of his friend.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of Jim Nabors’ passing – he was a great friend – we did several movies together…,” it reads. “He had a big voice and a bigger zest for life – I loved him and so did millions of others.”

The Alabama native had an impressive resume which featured movie roles, more than two dozen albums and numerous concert appearances. He also maintained long running shows in Las Vegas and Hawaii, which would eventually become his home in the 1970’s. Nabors would eventually come to Seattle in 2013 to marry his partner of over 30 years, Stan Cadwallader, shortly after the state legalized same-sex marriage. It has been reported that Cadwallader was at his side when Nabors passed.
