A large contingent of Guy Fieri lookalikes turned NYC into Flavortown this week for a now annual bar crawl in honor of the celebrity chef.
The second annual FieriCon took place this week in New York, where you could spot a number of individuals with bleached hair, goatees, and flame covered shirts. Acoording to one of the organizers, Dave Gold, around 125 people took part in the audacious bar crawl.
“The turnout was pretty amazing, I think there were about 125 people or so, I definitely want to do it again next year. I’ve received some pretty good feedback about it and am curious to see what it can grow into.”
Those who took part in the bar crawl set social media ablaze with videos from the event. One such video showed several individuals dressed as the celebrity chef chanting “I’m Guy Fieri!”.
The crawl got started at Hog Pit on 26th street, before making stops at Pioneers Bar, Stout N.Y.C. Flagship, The Keg Room, and then of course ending at Guy’s All American Kitchen and Bar.
What started initially as an inside joke has now gained quite a bit of traction it seems. Gold said,
“We just thought it would be funny to dress up like him for a few hours. It was an inside joke that somehow got a lot of exposure and people really seemed to like the idea, so I organized it.”
