Pierce Brosnan is being sued for starting a fire that ended up partially torching his neighbor’s house.
The fire was started in Brosnan’s $18.5 million Malibu mansion in February 2015, and made its way onto neighbor Alexander Haagen’s home. The exact cause of the fire is said to be an electrical problem exacerbated by rags which Brosnan chose not to dispose of entirely, as reported by TMZ.
Haagen received payment for the damage from his insurance company, and now the unnamed insurance company is suing the 90’s Bond actor. Reports suggest roughly 20 firefighters were called to the scene and were able to extinguished the blaze in around 30 minutes. At the time of the incident, Pierce, 64, his wife Kelly, 54, and his 2 children Dylan, 20, and Paris, 16, were all home. Everybody escaped and nobody was hurt during the entire ordeal. As Firefighters arrived, the families watched from their SUV’s in relative safety.
The bad news came later, when it was reported to have caused $1 million-worth of damage to the property. At this time there is no word on how much the cost of the repairs to his neighbors will be, and how much the insurance company is suing for.
Pierce Brosnan is best remembered for his role in the James Bond franchise during the late-90’s to early-2000’s.
